The Municipal Court is located at 104 N. Miller in the City Hall of Rising Star, Texas. The Judge is in the Court on Mondays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Court is closed from 12 noon to 1 p.m. for lunch.
If you recieve a citation from the Rising Star Police Department, you will recieve a courtesy letter from the court advising you of the complaint, the fine amount, and the date for your initial appearance at the court. You will be considered to have appeared if you contact the Court on or before the appearance date if you appear in person, telephone, or email the court.
If you fail to appear on or before the initial appearance date, you will receive a showcause hearing notice to explain to the Court why you failed to appear. Failure to appear for the showcause hearing will result in a warrant notice being issued. If you fail to contact the Court after receiving a warrant notice, a warrant for you arrest will be issued and you may receive an additional charge of Failure to Appear.
There are different ways to take care of citations. You may pay in full, make time payments, take a Driver’s Safety Course, take Deferred Disposition, do Community Service, or, if qualified, request Indigency.
If you are 17 years old or younger, you must appear in person at Court with a parent or guardian.
Contact the court for the current amount of fine and costs as they are subject to change without notice by the Legislature of the State of Texas.
